I wish it was easy for me

Hello hello!

I don't know about you, but I have a really hard time getting my body to cooperate first thing in the morning.

There is no rolling out of bed and going for a walk (or any exercise for that matter) for me. I have to prep my body to be functional, and that starts with a hot shower. Yep, I take a shower before I get sweaty. It's ridiculous, but it's the only way for me to not hurt myself.

Another thing I have to do, especially before I run, is to really work my joints. Dynamic movements such as leg swings and high knees get the blood moving, but then I do hip, knee, and ankle circles, stretch out my calves, and do a lot of spinal movements such as twists and cat/cows.

It's really quite the process. If I don't properly warm up, my body screams loudly and I don't want to hear that.

When we talk about keeping our bodies happy, we often think about stretching and weight training. But what about joint mobility?

What does that mean? It's working the joints through their intended range of motion and activating when we cannot move any further.

It may not sound like much on paper, but I'm here to tell you that joint mobility it HARD WORK. I encourage you to look into Functional Range Conditioning on social media. They have a wealth of information.

Want to see me in action? Here's a quick Hip CARs (controlled articular rotation) video. (Turn OFF the sound unless you want to hear the dogs chewing on bones in the background 😁)

Give it a try on both sides and let me know how it goes!

Feel the burn, but don't get sloppy.
